電器正常工作時, 雙金屬片處於自由狀態, 觸點處於閉合/斷開狀態, 當溫度達到動作溫度時, 雙金屬片受熱產生內應力而迅速動作, 打開或者閉合觸點, 切斷或者接通電路, 從而起到控制溫度的目的。當電器冷卻到復位溫度時，觸點自動閉合或者打開
